Day 7. Friday 20th of July

The day started as usually, we all met for breakfast. Exept Elfa the assistant who had worked so hard that she had to sleep in that morning. After that we had this great finnish folk dancing. We all had so much fun running around in groups, trying out this new dance and listening to music that we are used to that.
After that the band had their rehearsals and at two o'clock the final rehearsal for all the bands were held. There was much excitement in the air however we Icelanders came fashionably late since we power walked to town to buy some snacks for the day. We didn't bother packing like we were supposed to do instead we all just mingled and waited for the big event...

The concert of all concerts "let's get musical". The concert was just excellent, the highlight of the concert was when one of the spanich guys sang "let me entertain you". He had this excellent Robbie Williams voice. We Icelanders also did well on the concert were Gudfinnur and Eyþór played base in one of the bands, Keli played the guitar and Dagny was in one of the singing groups. The concert ended with this ultimate song "we are the champions" were the whole hall sang togetgher. After the concert we all went for dinner, which was actually the best one we had for the whole week. Then we had our final night. Gudfinnur went for a sauna were the theme was "we are the champions of the sauna". Eyþór went for the international mingling with the Italians. And Keli got all so Finnish.

That is what is so great about this camp. You meet people from all over Europe and bond and get e-mail addresses with hope that we will all see each other again. There wasn¨t much sleeping during the last night because everybody had so much to talk about. We did our packing half an hour before the bus went since everybody were so tired after the big night. Now we are on the way to the airport, everybody are quiet in the bus and seem to be a bit sad leaving Finland.
For the whole, the week was excellent. However, the Pori jazz festival was of course the main highlight. We would like to thank the Finnish leaders for their tremendous effort in organizing and hosting this week. In conclusion, the moral of the finnish leadership is ,,to get of your ass and do stuff" and it got through to all of the groups since everybody participated this week.

With love and kisses...... Dagny the doll, Elfa the yndislega, Eyþór the shark, Iron- Gudfinnur and least and not last Keli the sex machine.

Day 6. Thursday 19th of July

Wednesday - international evening
At 7 o'clock we were starting. We were in for an exciting four hours of live presentation from all national teams. At first Estonia playing some traditional songs was first to go cheering the crouds with a coupe of nostaligic country songs and a rapped performance by "the Dark Side". After that Italy got us all moving and thinking by presenting various tasks associated with their country. Most noticably each nation was aquired to name an Italien city, resulting in an astonishing high number of names been mentioned. Poland entered the stage with a Polonaise, a their national dance. A quiz followed together with practising the song "Hej sokoly" and a silent-telephone-game. The Icelandics were trying to convince that their jokes are actually funny bz translating them into English. To top this off they have also included a couple of typical bar songs from the island. Dancing was key in the presentation of our host country Finnland. Similarly Letvia made us dance in couples and presented some lovely country songs. As some of the audience was already falling asleep since we had pass 10 o'clock Germany had the privilege of finishing the program: Geography, Football and "Jodling" were the three displinces of the one and only "Eurajoki 2007 championship", won by the Polish. After the numerous presentations the leaders served us delicious hotdogs.

Thursday.
First we have to say that it was a very impressive day. After breakfast the bands and singing groups had their practice time. It was the first time when both singing groups combined their talents. Before lunch we had the possibility to play the kantele again while Riikka answered questions about singing. At 2 o'clock we departed to Pori Jazz Festival. At first, our hopes for nice wheater were disappointed: It was raining steadily until 5 o'clock. For this reasons Mikko and Hjalti prepared some pretty huge plastic bags to save our clothes from wettness.
Because of the huuge mass it was easy to get lost... as the time passed more and more fans seemed to accumulate in front of the stage and big screen. The first artist was the former drummer of Miles Davis Al Foster beginning at 3 pm. The next one was the Latin American Gilberto Gil who has written "No woman no cry". The line-up continued with Nathalie Cole the daughter of the famous Ned "King" Cole. Apart from various songs representing different stages of her carrier we were excited the most by a duett with her father who joined us via video-conferencing from high above. As charming as back in the fifties the headliner Paul Anka was the final star of the evening. Starting out with his greatest hit "Diana" he thrilled the audience not only with his own songs but also by performing swing-cover versions of famous rock classics by artists such as Jon Bon Jovi, Buddy Holy, Nirvana and of course the great Frank Sinatra. With the song "Twist and shout" the amazing program ended with a lot of noise also made by the impressed audience at about 10 o'clock, one hour later as originally planned. At the end of this day we fell asleep with the jazz music still playing in our minds.

Day 5. Wednesday 18th of July

Tuesday evening was really exciting. Although everybody was exhausted after trip to Rauma, we enjoyed it and it was a fantastic experiance. After dinner we had a while to relax and those more ambitious individuals have practised their songs in music studio.
Then the staff have nicely surprised us - they prepared sweets and fruits as a late snack. The atmosphere was really great and friendly. There were over 70 people in two living rooms and the cammon porpuse was only one - to consume delicious cookies. After a while it started to rain and fortunately everybody was inside - but it did not matter for some of participant, who put on swim suit and ran into the rain across the campus.
After a few hours of sleeping the next day begun. Then we ate breakfest and had many workshops, as usually. To choose were for example; beat-boxing, making soap, computer music making and etc. And the bands continued to prepared songs for friday's concert.

Day 4. Tuesday 17th of July

Yesterday evening when we had free time after dinner me, Janis and Maris went to the shop in Eurajoki center, which is 2km from the camp area. When.we got in to the shop, we accidentaly knocked down a tower of some products. After the we came back from the shop, we were totally exausted. But the night was young and soon we started the war of cooks. In the war of coocks, we (the Latvian group) were making polish traditional recipe for soup called "Zurek", and the polish peaple were making our recipe for potato pankakes. After the cooking there was an amazing presentation, where each country introduced the food they had made. This whole show was very interesting, and all the food was very delicious. After the show, we were listening to italian music, and that was wonderful.

We couldn't wait for the visit to Rauma this tuesday morning. And all we wanted came true! Rauma is very beautifull city. We were eating finnish icecream, and that was wonderful. After that we were swimming in the sea, and the water was very warm.
We have a similar town to Rauma in Latvia. It is called Ventspils. Janis was very happy because when he went to City-market with Maris, he found a CD that he have searching for last five years. in the mean time the girls bought lots of souvenires, Mumins, it's a finnish symbol. After that we went to McDonald´s and had a great meal. After all the action, we got back to our camping site in Eurajoki safely.

P.S. Great thanks to all camp organisators. You are the best!!!!!

Day 3, Monday 16th of July

Yo party people. You have started to read the blog chapter written by Icemaster formally Jürgen Dengo, writen from stagements from his group's participants. Hopefully you find something interesting and lot’s of fun here.

The campfire.
So yesterday we gathered around the fire to eat pancakes and have some fun. We got it all what we were waiting for and even more. None of my group-members who I talked to had never tasted pancakes fried on fire. Although they were fried in a pan and tasted quite similar to those I am used to eat in Estonia, It was still a new and exciting experience.
Märtin told us about an axident, where oil caught fire in the pan. He added, that it was very cool to see.
As the evening progressed people started to sing accompanied by the guitar. It isn’t something strange, but it came so suddenly that people just noticed it.
It was pitty that the organizers decided to woosh out the campfire, because soon people started to feel cold and left. But the nightlife didn’t end yet.

The Spoosh.
Actuelly I don’t know when it happened, but there was a cool moment. Darkside – the man with hundred voices – was walking and making sounds. One of the sounds was a soundd, which could be only pronounced in humanic way as spoosh. When darkside made that sound, Terhi pronounced it in the humanic way. SPOOSH. She was actuelly the one to discover the imitation like this. So it became the trademark of darkside and a very cool moment to laugh about for a while.

The nightlife.
Although the campfire was wooshed away, people stayed still in the place for some time. We told jokes to each other, spoke about various subjects and had a happy chance to just swing together on an old and unreliable swing near the campfire place.
As I said, night came and people started to feel cold outside. So the last people. Me, Italians and Konrad left the campplace, but instead of going to the sleeping building I found polish people in front of the house. Swinging and having just fun. I took my place next to Radec and we made beatbox and had lot’s of funny things to discuss about. For example, what happens to the people when they go to tentists. I also played jaw harp and when I by an axident struck the string against my teeth, I was immediately recommended to go to the tentist. Then I left the polish guys and went inside. Marko uibo told me about Aleks and Gerth to be in the livingroom, I went there and the discussion lasted until 02:30, when we all decided to go to sleep.

Next morning.
While I struggled to wake up for 8:30 to go to eat, the other half of the day went really well. Everyone from the Estonian group agreed that todays workshops where very cool. People who went to individual singing told it to be very helpful and good lesson.
My morning started with independent band lesson. We Practiced one song and then had a little jam for the end. Those who went to sing for example Mari-liis told that singing gives positivity. Aleks liked very mutch the workshop of free music making, where they played beatbox and acoustic bass together and rapped on int.
People who went to the creative movements workshop told it to be a great experience. In sports workshop people played a new style of volleyball. They playd also some arrow game, but I didn’t manage to play it, because we didn’t have time.
The nale of the day was shiatsu, where were about 25 people in a group. Everyone wanted to know, what it is.
And now I’m here writing this blog and waiting for the war of cooks.

Day 2. Sunday 15th of July

Hello, we're the group from Italy. We'd like to tell you about our day here in Finland.
We started our day with breakfast at 8:30. And after breakfast we had introduction with all of the countries with playing games. The games really lightened the atmosphere and after a while we got to know a lot of people. And later we started to work with everybody in a small and noisy room playing instruments. We tried different kind of workshops for example sports, body percussion and oakinova. In the workshops we were all divided in into five groups. And in the songworkshop we learned a song. After lunch the workshop work continued and we met a lot of nice people. It has been an interesting day with lots to do and now we're waiting to meet up with everybody and baking some pancakes. Some of the things that we were doing today we have never done before so it challanged our minds and also it's a good way to meet people and a good icebreaker in future conversations that we will have with the people from the other countries.
We only had one problem, that was that our bags got lost in our flight (hree of us). It's of course really unconvenient but we hope they will be found soon.
Lots of love from Italy.P.S. Hope the sun will come tomorrow!

Day 1. Saturday 14th of July

Hei, its the arrivale day of our music camp and 'so far, so good¨', we are just little tired after travelling. The main group travelled together from Helsinki airport and enjoyed the driving of our excellent busdriver Mr. Ilpo.
After all participant's groups had arrivaved in different times, we had a dinner (which was an hour late). Then we found our rooms and settled in.
After having familiarised ourselves with our accommodation, we enjoyed Jutta and the other assistants and leaders laying out some basics of the functionality of the camp.
Jutta, to her usual style, familiarised us with a few new terms for certain things for the camp. For example, 'bland' means a group of musicians playing the same song together. It's a shame we forgot to take our Jutta-English-Jutta dictionaries with us.
The rest of the evening was spent in excitement waiting for the rest of the participants to arrive. Then we had evening snakks in the accommodation building and got to know few of the other participants.
